How to Create Apple Notes with Just Your Voice

A voice-powered life hack for your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch

At Michael Coury Tech, I’m always looking for ways to make technology simpler, especially for those of us who didn’t grow up with a screen in our hand. One of my favorite tricks? Creating Apple Notes with just your voice. No typing. No fumbling. Just talking.

If you’ve ever had a thought you didn’t want to forget—like a grocery item, a book recommendation, or that dream you had last night—here’s how to turn your voice into organized digital notes in seconds.

📱 On Your iPhone or iPad

Option 1: Siri Does It For You

You don’t even have to open the app. Just say:

“Hey Siri, create a note.”

Then dictate whatever’s on your mind.

Siri will type it up and save it for you inside your Notes app—just like magic.

Option 2: Dictate Inside the Notes App

1. Open the Notes app.

2. Tap the new note button.

3. On the keyboard, tap the little microphone icon next to the space bar.

4. Start talking!

🗣️ You can even say punctuation:

“Lunch with Susan comma Tuesday at 1pm period”

💻 On Your Mac

If you’re at your Mac and want to go hands-free, try this:

1. Open the Notes app.

2. Press the Fn key (or the Globe key) twice.

3. Start speaking.

Your Mac will turn your voice into text inside your note. Pretty neat, right?

On Your Apple Watch

If you’re on a walk in Newport or waiting for coffee in San Clemente:

1. Raise your wrist and say:

“Hey Siri, take a note.”

2. Say your thought out loud.

3. That note will show up in the Notes app on your iPhone automatically.

Now your wrist is a tiny voice recorder with syncing powers. You’re basically James Bond.

🚀 Bonus Trick: Use Siri Shortcuts

Want to take this to the next level? You can create a custom Siri Shortcut like:

“Quick Thought” → opens a new note titled with today’s date and lets you start dictating right away.

If you want me to set this up for you during a session, just say the word.

🌴 Final Thoughts

Voice-powered notes are a game-changer—especially if your fingers aren’t always in the mood to type or your eyes need a break. Try it once, and you’ll wonder how you lived without it.

And hey, if you’ve never used Siri or Notes before, now’s the perfect time to start.

Need help setting it up? That’s what I’m here for. Let’s get your voice working for you.
