Why I’m Keeping My M1 iPad Pro (For now)

Every now and then, Apple drops a new device so sleek, so powerful, so whisper-thin that even the most level-headed among us start feeling a little twitch in the wallet. The M5 iPad Pro is that kind of machine. I’ve watched the ads, the reviews, and the slow-motion shots of the screen gliding open—and yes, I’ve felt the pull.

But here’s the thing: my M1 iPad Pro still runs like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It’s fast, quiet, sharp, and does everything I actually need it to do. So instead of upgrading, I decided to upgrade my mindset.

1️⃣ Power Isn’t the Same as Purpose

The M1 chip already laughs at most tasks I throw at it—IMovie video editing, photo tweaks, document creation, automation, entertainment. The M5 might be 60 percent faster, but for what? So my note-taking app can load a half-second quicker? I’ll survive.

2️⃣ The Real Upgrade Is in How You Use It

Instead of swapping hardware, I’ve been refreshing my setup:

• New wallpapers and widgets that fit my daily rhythm

• A better Notes structure using Smart Folders

• Shortcuts that automate my workday

It’s like giving the iPad a new personality without spending a dime.

3️⃣ Money Is Another Kind of Power

There’s something deeply satisfying about keeping a great device longer than the marketing cycle says you should. Every year I don’t upgrade is another year of freedom, another reminder that I own the tech—it doesn’t own me.

4️⃣ The Michael Coury Tech Way

At MCT, I always tell clients: your Apple gear should work for you, not keep you chasing the next thing. When you set it up right, your devices become partners in creativity, connection, and fun—not expensive hobbies to maintain.

So yes, I’ll admire the M5 iPad Pro from afar. But my M1 and I? We’re staying together a little longer. After all, real power isn’t in the processor—it’s in knowing when you’ve already got enough.  But of course as with all Apple gear, it may become impossible to resist, they are after all the most successful tech company of all time!

If your Apple devices still have plenty of life left but you’re not getting the most out of them, I can help you unlock the features that make them feel new again. Contact Michael Coury Tech and let’s fine-tune your setup for power, simplicity, and joy—no upgrade required.
