Building Confidence: The First Step to Doing More with Your Apple Tech

Most people think technology confidence comes after you learn all the features. But I’ve found it’s actually the other way around — confidence comes first, and everything else follows.

When I work with clients in Orange County, the first thing I do isn’t showing hidden features or shortcuts. It’s helping them feel comfortable with the basics — opening apps, organizing their Home Screen, syncing their devices. Once that confidence clicks in, something amazing happens: curiosity takes over. Suddenly, the same person who once said “I’ll never use that” is asking how to automate a grocery list or share fitness data from their Apple Watch.

That’s the real secret of building confidence with technology: you stop seeing it as something that might go wrong, and start seeing it as something that can go right.

At Michael Coury Tech, I call this process “basics and beyond.” We start where you are — whether that’s learning to text photos to your family, manage your passwords safely, or use the Health app — and we move gently forward together. Before long, you’re not just using your tech; you’re owning it.

And here’s the best part: once you have that baseline of confidence, your world opens up. Things that used to seem complicated — iCloud, Home automations, or advanced shortcuts — become possibilities instead of problems.

Technology doesn’t have to feel like a foreign language. With the right guidance and a little patience, it becomes second nature — and maybe even fun.

So if you’ve ever thought “I’m just not good with tech,” I’d say this: you don’t need to be a techie. You just need a little confidence to start exploring your Apple world. Once you’ve got that, there’s no limit to what you can do.
